Four Principles That Can make You Richer

Please SHARE, if you find it helpful to others. Thanks!

Do you want to become richer and wealthier? If you want to, you have to imbibe and practice the following four principles discovered from one of the parable of a great teacher:

  1. AS MANY AS YOUR ABILITIES, SO ARE YOUR RICHES.
  2. YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY TRADE WITH YOUR ABILITIES & MONEY.
  3. NEVER KEEP YOUR TALENT/MONEY WHERE IT WILL NOT YIELD ANY INTEREST.
  4. THE MORE YOU GIVE TO YOUR COMMUNITY, THE RICHER YOU BECOME.

If you still have time, you can read further, as these four principles are further explained and dwelt on.

Mathew 25

15 – And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several abilities; and straightway took his journey.

16 – Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17 – And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18 – But he that had received one went and dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

Many lessons that are applicable to our financial life are embedded in the parable about the kingdom of heaven in the lines above. It is all about profitable and unprofitable servants; it is all about successful and unsuccessful living. It is about a principle that can bring “heaven on earth” to be in our financial life. The success principles are highlighted as follows:

1. AS MANY AS YOUR ABILITIES, SO ARE YOUR RICHES: Verse 15 above implies that, “Everyone is talented!” Everyone is gifted! God has never created someone without ability. As the saying goes, “There are abilities in disabilities.” Even, the disables are full of abilities; results of Paralympics and many tournaments are testaments to this. How can this truth bring us riches? God gave riches to man according to his several abilities. It therefore means if you want to increase your riches, you can earn more ability, you can learn new skill, new trade; you can dabble into a new course. You can start a new business; you can introduce a new product or a new service. The more abilities you possess, the richer you become, all things being equal.

2. YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY TRADE WITH YOUR ABILITIES & MONEY (Verses 16 &17): The profitable servants, in its real sense, traded with the talents and the money they are in possession of. Of what use is the knowledge gained without actually trading it? For instance, if you are a graduate of law, and you don’t practice it, it cannot bring you any riches. When you learn anything, trade with it; and as the knowledge gained is bringing you riches, trade with the money. To be financially buoyant, you have to actually trade with all your abilities and the money in your care.

3. NEVER KEEP YOUR TALENT/MONEY WHERE IT WILL NOT YIELD ANY INTEREST: In verse 18, it is pathetic to hear that, the same servant, with only one ability, went and dug in the earth, and hid his Lord’s money. Money is meant to be traded with, money is not to be put in the closet of our house lying dormant, it is to be taken to the bank to be invested in an instrument that can make it double as times go by (not immediately please). As this principle applies to money, so also your talent/ability. Keep doing what you know how to do best always, until one day, you find yourself in front of a king. As you don’t hide your money in a lurking place, don’t hide your talent; let people know what you can do, and do it to the best of your knowledge, not because of profits; however having it in mind that profit is going to come one day.

4. THE MORE YOU GIVE TO YOUR COMMUNITY, THE RICHER YOU BECOME: You need to have a correct mentality about money! God owns the money, and you have to give back to him by giving to people. In that same verse 18, we were made to know that the money those servants are in charge of is their Lord’s. God is the real and original owner of every good gift and money (James 1:17). He owns all the money in our care. If we trade with it wisely, He entrusts more in our care. Moreover, when we trade with the money, and we become very wealthy, we should not forget others; we should give back to people and our community. Then shall Jesus answer them (Mathew 25:40), “saying, verily I say unto you, inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.” God is the owner of the money and you have to give back to him by doing and being good to people around you. Give back to the Lord by giving back to your community! You don’t need to understand how this principle works, “The more you give, the richer you become.”
