And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? Matthew 20:6.
Many people are discouraged in life, because all the efforts they have been putting to life in order to succeed are not yielding. It ought not to be so!
A story was told of a man that wanted to dismantle a rock with a very strong hammer. The first strike, second, third, and so on; and at the 99th strike came down the rock. Imagine the man stopped at the 98th strike! That would have been a wasted efforts in term of time and energy expended.
In the quote above, those workers were still standing in the market place, beaming with HOPE that, they would record success for the day. At the 11th hour, when it is about one hour to close the market, they still didn’t leave. That is simply the definition of perseverance: beaming with hope when it seems as if the end is imminent. It’s not over until it is over. “Winners never quit, and quitters never win.”
It’s an application of a lot of effort standing for more than eleven hours. It looks as if those workers were idle, but they were not because they were in the right place per time. They were at the market place. They positioned themselves in such a way that they can be hired.
They were not influenced by the people leaving because they were not hired on time; those that were quitting because every effort put in to life to succeed proved abortive. They kept on working hard to succeed. Even, the master that finally hired them, knew they were not idle in its real term. Maybe to tease them or to find out the truth.
Never give up please, never quit. All those efforts you are putting in are required for your final success. Those efforts are the foundation which your lofty achievement will stand tall on, for the whole world to see.
