The Desired Burning

A long while ago, a great warrior faced a situation which made it necessary for him to make a decision which insured his success on the battle field. He was about to send his armies against a powerful foe, whose men outnumbered his own. He loaded his soldiers into boats, sailed to the enemy’s country, unloaded soldiers and equipments, THEN GAVE THE OTHER TO BURN THE SHIPS THAT HAD CARRIED THEM. Addressing his men before the first battle, he said,

“You see the boats going up in smoke. That means that we can not leave this shore alive except we win! We now have no choice – we win or we perish!”

Of course, they won!

Every person who wins in any undertaking must be willing to burn his ships and cut all sources of retreat. Only by so doing can one be sure of maintaining that state of mind known as a BURNING DESIRE TO WIN, an essential to success.

ADAPTED FROM “THINK AND GROW RICH” by Andrew Carnegie.

The story inspired me to write this:

THE DESIRED BURNING

The fire not to fight.
The more it burns, the better.
The higher it grows, the greater.
Feed it, make it grow.
Let it turn into a turbulent river, running, tumbling, and wavy boisterously.

It’s better if you let this fire consume you.
The fire not to be quenched.
It’s dangerous to put it out.
The fire not to fight.
The fire not to put out.
The enjoyable fire.
Let it continue to burn.
And burn every chaff into ashes.

The desired burning.
The one that erupts laughter.
The one that brings results.
The one that speaks better at the end.

The desired burning,
That bring to pass a burning desire, and brings fulfilment to a burning heart.

  3. Great motivation here for me and everyone who desires huge success. It’s inherent in humans to have wishes and dreams. But only those that are intensely passionate, with a burning desire for accomplishments succeed eventually.
It takes more than mere wishing for success. There must be a staying power and a deep sense of ambition to achieve any set goal.
Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the story and the illustrations. Cheers. 🙂

    1. I’m happy reading this from you. Desire without persistence in taking action is just a wish! And it can lead one no where. Thanks a lot for supporting the great idea.
